CodeNeter

Installation

Install the CodeNeter desktop app, the CLI, or the editor extension, and sign in.

Start with the desktop app if you're new to CodeNeter. The CLI and the editor extension are separate installs for working in a terminal or in your editor. Each one has its own sign-in.

Desktop app

The desktop app is available for macOS, on Apple silicon and Intel Macs, and for Windows x64.

macOS

  1. On the Download page, choose the Apple silicon or Intel build. If you're not sure which Mac you have, open the Apple menu and choose About This Mac.
  2. Open the download, drag CodeNeter into Applications, and open it from there.

Windows

  1. Run the installer from the Download page.
  2. When it finishes, open CodeNeter from the Start menu.

If Windows warns you before the installer runs, verify that you downloaded it from the official CodeNeter Download page before continuing.

  1. Click Sign in at the bottom of the sidebar, then choose Sign in from the menu that opens.
  2. Your browser opens the CodeNeter sign-in page. Sign in there.
  3. When the page says you can close the tab, return to CodeNeter.

If sign-in doesn't complete, see Troubleshooting.

Updates

When a new version is ready, an Update button appears next to your account at the bottom of the sidebar. Click it to restart CodeNeter on the new version.

CLI

The CLI needs Node.js 20.9.0 or later. Install it from npm:

npm install -g @codeneter/cli

This adds the codeneter command. Run it from your project's folder; the CLI works on the folder you start it in:

cd path/to/your-project
codeneter

To sign in, type /login and press Enter. Your browser opens to finish signing in. Until you do, the CLI header reminds you to run /login.

For CLI updates, see Stay up to date.

Editor extension

The extension works in VS Code 1.90 or later and in VS Code-based editors such as Cursor and Antigravity.

You can also search for CodeNeter in your editor's Extensions view. The extension ID is codeneter.codeneter.

After installing, click the CodeNeter icon in the activity bar to open it. To sign in, run CodeNeter: Sign In from the Command Palette, or click Sign in when CodeNeter prompts you. Sign-in finishes in your browser.
